The Central Government on Thursday under a cabinet meeting chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi approved three out of six corridors of the Delhi Metro’s proposed phase IV which will boost connectivity to the left out areas in south and other parts of Delhi.
Accordingly the works will start on the Mukundpur-Maujpur, R K Ashram-Janakpuri West and Aero City-Tughlakabad corridors.
In this the Tughlakabad – Aerocity corridor would further improve connectivity to the Delhi airport and would pass through several south delhi areas like Saket, Khanpur, Vasant Kunj, Masoodpur, Lado Sarai, linking them directly to the Delhi Airport.
The Total length of the three corridors would be 61.679 Km which will have 17 underground and 29 elevated stations.
The Aerocity-Tughlakabad metro corridor will include 15 stations which are – Aerocity, Mahipalpur, Vasant Kunj Sector-D, Masoodpur, Kishangarh, Mehrauli, Lado Sarai, Saket, Saket G Block, Ambedkar Nagar, Khanpur, Tigri, Anandmayee Marg Junction, Tughlakabad Railway Colony and Tughlakabad.
The R K Ashram-Janakpuri West corridor will include 25 stations which are – R K Ashram, Motiakhan, Sadar Bazar, Pulbangash, GhantaGhar/SabziMandi, Rajpura, Derawal Nagar, Ashok Vihar, Azadpur, Mukundpur, Bhalaswa, MukarbaChowk, BadliMor, North Pitampura, Prashant Vihar, MadhubanChowk, DeepaliChowk, Pushpanjali Enclave, West Enclave, Mangolpuri, PeeragarhiChowk, PaschimVihar, Meerabagh, Keshopur, Krishan Park Extension and Janakpuri West.
The Maujpur-Mukundpur corridor will include 6 stations which are – Yamuna Vihar, Bhajanpura, KhajuriKhas, Soorghat, Jagatpur Village and Burari.
Three more corridors which has been put on hold for later approval are – Rithala – Bawana -Narela , Inderlok – Indraprastha , Lajpat Nagar – Saket G Block.
